21 Years

Today is our 21st wedding anniversary.

When I think about that number it baffles me. How in the world have we already lived 21 YEARS as husband and wife?

It just seems like time has passed too quickly. There’s so much we still want to do and yet 21 YEARS have already been checked off.

And then, I think about the actual LIFE we’ve lived and I smile. Not because it’s been bliss . . . because marriage, and life, isn’t.

We’ve felt devastating grief that rocked our souls. We’ve experienced hurricanes and a house fire. We’ve argued and have been misunderstood. We’ve faced illnesses and surgeries. We saw our world turn upside down during a pandemic.

But, in those same 21 years, there have been some of the best moments of our lives as well.

The births of our beautiful boys, the most incredible concerts, fun road trips and getaways, sooo many Gator games, our boys’ sports games and art shows, our career changes and business ventures, a surrogacy journey, and the not-so-exciting but so damn beautiful moments of looking across the table and feeling deep in your heart that person loves you more than anything in the world.

I know life isn’t perfect and what lies ahead won’t be perfect, but I’ll take the life we have created together a million times over.
